IPTV not working: checklist

Four checks for when nothing plays at all: login details, server URL, expired access and the one-connection limit. Each ends with a clear sign to move on.

IPTV not working: checklist

This checklist is for hard failures: a refused login, a server that cannot be reached, an empty channel list or an error on every stream.

Four causes explain most cases: a typo in the login details, a slip in the server URL, an ended term, or another device using the single connection.

Check them in that order with your access e-mail open beside you; each check takes a minute or two.

This page is your IPTV not working fix checklist for the moments when nothing plays at all. The player refuses your login, insists it cannot reach the server, opens on an empty list, or shows an error on every channel you try. That is a different situation from buffering or freezing, where the picture plays but badly. Here, the chain is broken somewhere before the first frame, and the break is almost always in a small number of places you can inspect yourself. This guide sits in the ClearPick IPTV troubleshooting section and works like a buyer’s checklist: a fixed order, a clear test for each item and a sign that tells you when to move on.

We sell our own packs and we answer the support messages that arrive when something goes wrong, so this order is built from real cases. Most hard failures are solved by the first two checks. A good share of the rest are solved by the third or fourth. Only a small minority need us to look at anything on our side, and when they do, the notes you collect while working through this page make that look quick.

IPTV not working fix: match the error to the cause

Players are written by different publishers and word their errors in different ways, but nearly all of those messages belong to a handful of families. Find the family that matches your screen, then jump to the matching check below.

What the player says or doesLikely causeCheck to run
“Invalid login”, “authorisation failed”, “wrong username or password”A typo in the username or passwordCheck one: login details
“Cannot connect”, “host not found”, “connection error”, or a long waitA slip in the server URL or portCheck two: server URL
“Account expired”, “inactive”, or a login that worked for months now failsThe plan term has endedCheck three: term

Login works but the channel list is blankAn interrupted first load or hidden categoriesCheck six: empty list
Login refused on one device only, accepted on anotherTypo on that device, or a wrong device clockChecks one and seven

If your message does not appear in the table, photograph it anyway. The exact wording is worth far more to support than a description from memory, and it often reveals the family once you read it twice. Then start at check one regardless. The order runs from the quickest checks to the slowest, so you often finish early.

If something does play but stutters, stops to load or locks on a frame, you are in the wrong guide. Our pages on fixing IPTV buffering and fixing IPTV freezing cover those symptoms in depth.

Before you start: three things to have at hand

Every check on this page goes faster with the right tools next to you. Gather these three before you begin, and the whole list can be run in one sitting.

Your access e-mail

Open it on a phone or computer, not on the TV. It holds the server URL, username and password, or the M3U link, exactly as they should be entered.

A second device

A phone or tablet with a supported player from its official app store. It will tell you whether the account or the TV is at fault.

Your order date

Find the order confirmation e-mail. Its date and the duration you chose tell you whether your term is still running.

If you cannot find the access e-mail, search your inbox for the address you used when ordering, and look in the spam, junk and promotions folders. Access is e-mailed within minutes of an order, and automated messages are sometimes filed away by mail filters. If it is truly missing, support can help; the section on missing access e-mails further down explains what to send.

A small habit for the future: once you find the e-mail, save the details somewhere safe outside the TV, such as a password manager or a note on your phone kept private. Next time a device is reset or replaced, setup will take a couple of minutes instead of a search through old mail.

Check one: login details

A single wrong character is enough to block a login, and TV keyboards make wrong characters easy. They capitalise the first letter without asking, they make look-alike characters hard to tell apart, and copy and paste on phones often adds an invisible space at the end of a field.

Player › Add account › Xtream Codes

Only the account name is yours to choose. Every other field must match the e-mail character for character.

Look-alike trapHow it slips inHow to catch it

Trailing spaceAdded by copy and pasteDelete the last character and retype it
Swapped fieldsUsername typed into the password boxRead each field label before typing

Go through the fields slowly, one at a time, with the e-mail beside you. Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive, so a capital letter where the e-mail has a small one is a different login as far as the server is concerned. If your player offers a “show password” eye icon, use it; typing blind on a remote is where most mistakes happen.

Sign to move on: every field matches the e-mail exactly, and the error remains.

Check two: the server URL and port

The server URL is the address your player contacts to fetch your channels. With Xtream Codes access it usually ends with a colon followed by a port number. Leaving the port off, adding a slash at the end, swapping “http” for “https”, or keeping a stray space are the classic slips, and each produces a “cannot connect” style error.

Player login screen with server, username and password fields on a television
The server field is where the most stubborn typos hide.

Read the address in parts

Look at the URL in your e-mail as a sequence: the beginning, the server name, a colon, then the port number. Check each part separately on the TV. Our Xtream Codes setup guide shows where each part goes, player by player.

  • The beginning matches the e-mail exactly, with no extra letter.
  • The colon and port number are present.
  • No slash or space was added at the end.
  • The URL sits in the server field, not the username field.

A useful shortcut is to enter the same details on a phone. If the phone connects and the TV does not, the TV entry has a typo somewhere, even if you have looked at it three times. Rather than hunting for it, delete the account on the TV and enter it again from scratch, reading from the e-mail rather than from the phone.

Some players split the address into two fields, one for the server and one for the port. If yours does, put the part before the colon in the server field and the number after it in the port field, without the colon itself. When a player has a single field, keep everything together as written in the e-mail.

Sign to move on: the URL matches, port included, and a second device fails in the same way.

Check three: has your term ended

Every plan we sell runs for a fixed duration, paid once, with no contract and no automatic renewal. That design protects you, because nothing is ever charged without your say, but it also means access ends on its own when the term does. A login that worked yesterday and fails today, with an “expired” or “inactive” message, almost always comes down to this.

1·3·6·12months, the available durations
1simultaneous connection per pack
7/7support by e-mail and WhatsApp

Find the order confirmation e-mail and compare its date with the duration you chose. If the term has run its course, your account is not broken: it has simply finished. You can order again whenever you like, with the same pack or a different one, and the new access will be e-mailed within minutes. See current prices on the plans page, and if you are deciding whether to choose a longer duration this time, the 12-month IPTV subscription page explains how it compares with shorter plans.

When the new access e-mail arrives, edit the saved account in your player rather than adding a second one. Players that hold two accounts for the same service can confuse their channel lists and their guides, and you may find yourself opening the expired entry by habit. If your new details look identical to the old ones, still re-enter them, then reload the channel list.

Set a reminder on the day you order: since nothing renews by itself, the simplest protection against a surprise stop is a calendar entry a few days before the term ends. That gives you time to decide whether to continue, and if so, to reorder before a big evening rather than during one.

Sign to move on: your term is still running and the login still fails.

Check four: the one-connection limit

Each pack includes 1 simultaneous connection. You can enter the same credentials on several devices in your home, such as the living-room TV, a tablet and a phone, but only one of them can play at a time. When a second device starts, the server either refuses it or stops the first stream, and either result can look like a fault.

If your TV refuses to start a stream

Another device in the home may already be playing, perhaps a tablet left on in another room.

Then: close the player on every other device and retry
If your stream stops after a few seconds

A second device may have started at the same moment, taking the connection.

Then: ask who else is watching and agree on one screen
If it fails right after switching devices

Some players hold a stream open briefly after you leave them.

Then: close the first player completely, wait a moment, then retry
If nobody at home is watching

A forgotten device may still be playing, or the credentials have been entered somewhere outside your home.

Then: check every device, then contact support

Credentials stay in one household: if your login has been passed to someone in another home, their viewing will block yours, and sharing credentials between households is not permitted in any case. If your own household needs several screens at the same moment, write to support before you need them. They will explain the conditions and price of extra simultaneous screens for your situation.

The guide to IPTV on multiple screens explains how one set of credentials works across several devices used in turn, and what to ask support if you need more than that.

Sign to move on: every other device is closed, and the error persists.

Check five: M3U link entry

If your access arrived as an M3U link rather than separate Xtream Codes fields, the entry mistakes are different. The link is a single long address, and players usually offer two ways to add a playlist: from a URL, or from a file stored on the device. Choosing the file option with a link, or pasting only part of the link, produces a playlist that is accepted but never loads.

Playlist settings screen in an IPTV player with the URL option highlighted
Choose the URL option, not the file option, when adding an M3U link.

The M3U checks

Copy the link from the e-mail in one piece, on a phone or computer, rather than retyping a long address on a remote. Our guide to setting up IPTV with an M3U link shows the exact menu path in common players.

  • The playlist was added with the URL option.
  • The whole link was pasted, with nothing cut off at the end.
  • No space was added at the start or the end.
  • The player was given time to load the full list.

Long links are the hardest thing to type on a TV remote, so many players let you add a playlist from a phone or a computer, either through a companion page on the publisher’s own website or through a QR code shown on the TV. When that option exists, use it: it removes the typing step entirely. If your player supports both formats, you may also find the Xtream Codes entry easier, since it splits the details into three short fields.

Sign to move on: the link was added correctly as a URL and still loads nothing.

Check six: login accepted, empty channel list

This case confuses people because the hardest part seems to have worked. The player accepts the account, then shows a blank list, a list of category names with nothing inside, or a spinning icon that never finishes. The cause is usually one of three things, and none of them means the account is broken.

What you seeLikely reasonWhat to do
Blank list right after the first loginThe first load was interruptedLeave the player open until it finishes, or reload the account from its settings
Categories visible but emptyContent still loading, or a category filter appliedWait, then check the player’s category or group settings
Some sections empty, others fullSections hidden in the player’s settingsLook for “hide categories” or “manage groups” and unhide them
List loads very slowlyA large catalogue on a device with limited memoryGive it time once, then restart the player

The first load is the heaviest moment in a player’s life. It fetches the full list of channels, series and movies, and on a large catalogue that takes a while, especially on a stick with limited memory. Our VIP Premium Pack, for instance, includes 27,000+ channels, 61,000+ series and 155,000+ movies, so the first load is substantial. Let it finish completely before you judge the result, and do not switch the TV off halfway through.

Sign to move on: the list stays empty after a complete reload.

Check seven: the device clock

This is the check almost nobody thinks of, and it explains a surprising number of “works on my phone, fails on my TV” cases. Secure connections rely on the device knowing the correct date and time. A box or TV whose clock has drifted, reset to a factory date after a power cut, or been set to the wrong time zone can fail to connect, refuse a login, or show an empty or shifted programme guide.

Fixing the clock

Open the device’s system settings and look for date and time. Turn on automatic date and time from the network if the option exists, and set the correct time zone for where you live. Restart the player afterwards so it reconnects with the corrected clock. If the device has no automatic option, set the date and time by hand and recheck them after any power cut.

A wrong clock rarely causes a total failure on its own on modern devices, but it is a quick, costless check, and it tends to cause trouble in combination with other issues. If your programme guide is also empty or shows the wrong programmes, the clock is a strong suspect, and our guide to setting up the IPTV TV guide covers the time offset settings in players.

Sign to move on: the date, time and time zone are correct, and the error remains.

When nothing connects anywhere: the network side

Hard failures are usually about details, but occasionally the whole home network is the reason nothing loads. The tell-tale sign is that every device fails with a “cannot connect” style error, including a phone on Wi-Fi, while the same phone works once you switch it to mobile data. That points away from your access and towards the router or the line.

Phone on Wi-FiFails to connect
Phone on mobile dataConnects and plays
ConclusionThe home network is involved
Next stepRouter restart and settings check

Start with a full router restart: unplug it, wait a short moment, plug it back in and give it time until every light is steady. If other websites and apps also fail on your Wi-Fi, the line itself is down, and your internet provider is the right contact. If everything else works and only the player fails, look at the router’s own settings. Parental controls, content filters or security features that you or someone in the household switched on can block a player without any obvious message. Your router maker’s instructions explain where those settings live.

Be careful with mobile data as a long-term workaround: streaming uses a lot of data, and the test only needs a few seconds. Its purpose is to tell you which side of the router the problem sits on, nothing more. Once the home network is back to normal, return to Wi-Fi or a cable.

After a reset, a new TV or a player update

Many hard failures start right after a change: a factory reset, a new television, a replacement stick, or a player that updated itself overnight. In each case the device has lost something it used to know, and the fix is to give it back exactly what the access e-mail says.

What changedWhat was lostWhat to do
Factory reset of the deviceEvery player and saved accountReinstall the player from the official app store and enter the details from the e-mail
New TV or new stickNothing yet installed on itInstall a supported player and add the account fresh
Player updateSometimes the saved login or playback settingsRe-enter the account or edit it, then reload the list
System update on the deviceOccasionally the clock or network settingsCheck date, time zone and network, then reopen the player
Router replacedThe device’s saved Wi-Fi networkJoin the new network on the TV, then test the player

A new device does not need a new plan. The same credentials work on any supported device in your home, used one at a time. When you move to a new TV, simply stop using the old one, or close the player there, so it does not hold the single connection. If the old device was sold or given away, remove the account from it first so it cannot start a stream on your credentials.

Players that need device activation

Some players, especially those built for smart TVs, work slightly differently. Instead of typing your details on the TV, you activate the app using an identifier shown on the screen, often called a device ID or MAC address, and then add your playlist through the publisher’s own website. These players also tend to ask for a publisher licence after a while. When something goes wrong with them, the cause may sit with the app’s activation rather than with your access.

Signs the activation is healthy

  • The app opens to its normal home screen
  • Your playlist name appears in the app
  • The publisher’s page shows the device as active
  • Other devices with the same access work

Signs the activation needs attention

  • The app shows a licence or activation reminder
  • Your playlist vanished after an app update
  • The device ID on screen changed after a reset
  • The app works for a while, then stops entirely

For anything to do with the app’s own activation or licence, the publisher is the right contact, and the current price of a licence is listed on the app’s official website. We are independent from app publishers and cannot activate, reset or sell their licences. What we can do is confirm that your access itself works, which is why testing the same details in a second player is so useful here. Our IBO Player review and setup explains this activation flow in detail, and the smart TV guide lists the players available on Samsung and LG sets.

The full IPTV not working fix, step by step

If you prefer one sequence over separate checks, follow this one from top to bottom. Test after each step and stop as soon as channels play.

  1. Close every other stream. Shut the player on all other devices that use your credentials.
  2. Restart the player, the device and the router. Wait until the router lights have settled before testing.
  3. Compare the login fields with the e-mail. Fix any capital letter, look-alike character or trailing space.
  4. Check the server URL, port included. Retype it from the e-mail if in doubt.
  5. Confirm your term is still running. Compare the order date with your duration, and reorder from the plans page if it has ended.
  6. Check the M3U entry if you use a link. Add it with the URL option, in one piece.
  7. Reload the channel list. Let the first load finish completely.
  8. Check the device clock and time zone. Turn on automatic date and time.
  9. Test on a second device. Same details, same network, a different player if possible.
  10. Update or switch the player. Install from your device’s official app store.
  11. Contact support. Send your device, player, error photo and the steps above.

Step nine is the turning point of the whole list. If a phone plays with the same details, your account and your line are working, and the remaining effort belongs on the TV and its player. If the phone fails in exactly the same way, the TV is innocent, and the cause sits with the details, the term or the connection limit, which steps three to seven have already covered, or with something support needs to look at.

A worked example: the Monday morning surprise

A household that has watched happily for months switches on the TV one morning to an “account inactive” message. The phone shows the same error. Here is how the checklist resolves it without guesswork.

  1. Check one

    Login details

Nobody touched the settings, and the fields match the e-mail. No typo.

  2. Check two

    Server URL

Identical to the e-mail, port included. The phone fails too, so it is not a TV entry problem.

  3. Check three

    Order date

The confirmation e-mail shows a 6-month plan ordered just over six months earlier. The term has ended.

  4. Same morning

    Reorder

A new plan is chosen from the plans page and paid by card in Canadian dollars.

  5. Minutes later

    New access e-mail

The new details arrive. The saved account is edited in the player, not duplicated.

  6. Lesson

    Calendar reminder

A reminder goes into the shared family calendar a few days before the new term ends.

The household could have spent the morning reinstalling players, resetting the router and searching forums. Instead, three checks in order pointed straight to the cause, because the phone test ruled out the TV and the order date told the rest of the story. A different household with a different error would have stopped at a different check, but the order would have served them just as well.

When the access e-mail never arrived

Sometimes the problem starts before the player: you ordered, and nothing seems to have arrived. Access is e-mailed within minutes of an order, so a longer silence usually means the message was filed away or sent to an address with a typo in it.

  • Search every folder, including spam, junk, promotions and updates.
  • Search for the word you would expect in the subject, such as your pack name.
  • Check the order confirmation for the e-mail address you entered; a single wrong letter sends access elsewhere.
  • Add our sending address to your contacts so future messages arrive in the inbox.
  • Check the e-mail account you actually used at checkout, if you have several.

If the message is truly nowhere to be found, contact support by e-mail or WhatsApp with the name and e-mail address used for the order and the payment method, card or PayPal. Do not place a second order to “try again”; it creates a second plan rather than resending the first. The page on paying for IPTV in Canada explains what happens between payment and delivery.

Most hard failures are not mysteries. They are one wrong character, one ended term or one forgotten tablet, found by checking in order.

Reading your access e-mail

The access e-mail is the reference for every check on this page. Knowing what each part means makes it far easier to spot where a typo has crept in, and to tell support exactly which field is causing trouble.

Server URL
The address your player contacts. With Xtream Codes access it usually ends with a colon and a port number.
Port
The number after the colon in the server URL. Some players ask for it in a separate field.
Username
Your account name on the server. Case-sensitive, so capitals matter.
Password
The secret paired with your username. Also case-sensitive, and never to be shared outside your household.
Xtream Codes
The format that uses server URL, username and password as three separate fields.
M3U link
A single playlist address that holds the same access in one line, added with the player’s URL option.

Some players accept both formats. If one format keeps failing on a particular device, trying the other is a legitimate test: it uses the same account through a different entry path, and a success tells you the problem was in the way the first format was entered.

Mistakes that turn a quick fix into a long evening

Hard failures tempt people into big gestures. Most of those gestures make the real cause harder to find. Compare the two lists and stay with the left one.

Factory-resetting first

A reset wipes every player and setting, and if the cause was an ended term, it changes nothing at all.

Retyping from memory

Memory swaps characters. Always read the details from the access e-mail.

Ordering twice

A second order creates a second plan. If access seems missing, ask support first.

Adding duplicate accounts

Two entries for the same service confuse lists and guides. Edit the existing one.

Sharing the login

Another home’s viewing takes your single connection, and sharing is not permitted.

Unofficial player builds

Modified apps expose your device and login. Use the official app store only.

One more mistake deserves its own line: posting your server URL, username or password in a public forum while asking for help. Those details belong to your household only. Anyone who reads them could use your connection, which would block your own viewing. If a forum helper asks for them, decline and write to our support instead, through our official e-mail or WhatsApp.

FAQ

Why did my IPTV stop working overnight?

The most common reasons are an ended term, another device playing on your credentials, or a player update that reset your login. Check those three first.

My login works on my phone but not on the TV. Why?

The TV entry almost certainly has a typo, often a capital letter or a trailing space. Delete the account on the TV and enter it again from the e-mail.

Does my subscription renew automatically?

No. Plans run for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months with no automatic renewal. When the term ends, access stops until you order again.

What does “cannot connect to server” mean?

The player cannot reach the address as typed. Check the server URL against the e-mail, including the port after the colon, and remove any slash or space.

Why is my channel list empty after logging in?

The first load was probably interrupted, or some categories are hidden. Reload the account, let it finish, then check the player’s category settings.

Can a wrong date on my TV stop IPTV from working?

It can cause login and guide problems. Turn on automatic date and time in the device settings, set your time zone, and restart the player.

Can I lose access if I share my login?

Sharing outside your household is not permitted, and another home’s viewing will block yours, because each pack includes 1 simultaneous connection.

Where do I find my server URL again?

In the access e-mail sent within minutes of your order. Check spam and promotions folders, or ask support if it is missing.

Should I order again if my access e-mail is missing?

No. A second order creates a second plan. Contact support with the name and e-mail address used for the order instead.

What should I send to support?

Your device, your player, a photo of the error, the checks you ran and the e-mail used for your order. Support replies by e-mail and WhatsApp, 7 days a week.
